Tags & search
Two ways to find things in an account that has grown large, both working across all features:
- tags group resources that belong together, and
- the global search finds anything by name, from any page.
Tags
Tags come from note fields. Almost every resource has a free-form
note: domains, services, databases, app servers, containers and stacks,
DNS records, domain accounts, email rules, OIDC applications, and shares.
Every #hashtag you type there becomes a tag.
Write #client-acme relaunch scheduled for May in the note of a database
and in the note of a website, and both appear under #client-acme.
The Tags page lists your tags with an item count each. Select a tag to see everything that carries it: all the parts of one project at once, across databases, sites, and mailboxes.
Since tags live in notes, you manage a tag by editing a note:
- Remove the hashtag and the resource loses that tag.
- When nothing carries a tag, it disappears.
- Tags ignore capital letters:
#Workand#workare the same tag.
The global search
Press Ctrl+K anywhere in the panel (Cmd+K on a Mac), or / when
you're not typing in a field. Results arrive as you type and cover three
kinds of thing:
| Kind | Matched on |
|---|---|
| Your resources | Names, notes, and tags. Type a tag, with or without the #, to find everything that carries it. |
| Panel pages | Name or purpose, so the search is also a way to navigate: "certif" goes straight to Certificates. |
| Runtimes and tools | Name or version. |
- More words narrow the match.
- Quotation marks match a phrase exactly.
- A
-before a word excludes it. - The last word matches as a prefix, so results appear before you finish typing.
